Considered to be the oldest pagoda on the earth, the Shwedagon Pagoda is the tourism sector in Yangon, Myanmar. This sacred pagoda with beautiful golden stupa is the Buddhist temple which has long history. Started in the 6th century, this religious monument used to be built lower than this current temple. By 15th century, the great Binnya U decided to renovate the Shwedagon Pagoda and she raised its height to 130 feet with the terraces were designed with the stones and well-paved. In the following century, this tourism sector in Myanmar had its significance as the Buddhist monument for many pilgrimages in Burma. In the end of 18th century, the earthquake caused any damages on this sacred monument and the King Hsinbyushin instructed to repair the damaged parts including the increasing height to 330 feet. As Burma was reported to be annexed to British Empire, the great King Mindon Min decorated the temple with the crown umbrella at the top of this tourism spot.
