Iskanderkul Lake is the tourism sector in Tajikistan which sits at altitude of 2,255 masl with the deepest point is 72 meter depth. This beautiful site is said to be surrounded by the rangers of the Fann Mountain with the picturesque views of the pristine nature. Around the Fann Mountain there is a great lake with no aquatic life because of the high mineral contained in the water. According to the locals, the origin of the lake has long been forgotten, but a few locals still remember the story about this tourism spot.
It was 2,300 years ago when the greatest army led by Alexander was on his way heading to India and he along with his soldiers arrived in Sogdiana and he conquered over Marakandu, its capital. As the night falls, Alexander with the army besieged the dwellers area where he killed all the dwellers. He also built a great dam but the dwellers did not allow Alexander to do it so they kept trying to pursue the Alexander’s army. But the huge mass of the water failed all the attempts and it remained a few dwellers that kept fighting against Alexander who were at the edge of the cliffs with Bucephalus, the warhorse. Both Alexander and his horse stumbled into the dam at last. This becomes the tourism spot by now.
